ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born to Pamela Morgan (age 30) and Michael Morgan on July 2, 1989. Morgan was raised by her parents in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played a variety of sports throughout her early years, but did not favor soccer until she was 14. Morgan joined the Cypress Elite club team and took home the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. Morgan also finished third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued to improve her skills in soccer at Diamond Bar High School. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) chose Morgan to be an All-American Athlete. She also played in the Olympic Development Division's regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley. She led the California Golden Bears team's scoring during her first season. She led the team to the NCAA Tournament in four years and to two times to the second round. Morgan was one of four finalist for the Honda Sports Award. She was also the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. Morgan completed her studies at Berkeley in the first semester of 2010 and was ranked 3rd among all-time goals, points, and assists. Morgan was able to manage soccer careers at both the national and college levels during her time at Berkeley. Morgan was injured in her ACL in her first year as a Berkeley player. Morgan was unable to practice for the U.S. Under-20 Women's Soccer team until April 2008. In the following season, she scored her first international goal at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Mexico. Morgan was also a part-time player at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals, earning her team a gold medal. One of these was an important win goal against Italy, which resulted in the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player on the team and helped the team win against France. Morgan was the team's youngest player and helped them win against Japan.
