Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was a Pasadena, California native. When she was three years old, her family and she moved to the United States. Summer was a student at American as well as British schools as her family moved abroad. Her return to Pasadena California, just a few days shy of her 14th birthday. Summer was only five years old when she was captivated by acting and began her first acting class. Nine months after, she signed a contract with an agent/manager, and started her full-time profession. In her spare time she attends college and is working towards her degree. Was among the young celebrities included in Vanity fair's cover story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Most Hot Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was selected as one of the "Ten actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil started acting lessons at age fourteen. Within a year she signed a contract with an agency and a manager. Bishil started her career with the Nickelodeon TV show Just for Kicks. After that she was signed an agreement with a manager and an agency. Her first big break was in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same title. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, claimed that "Her performance in a film that for all its good intentions is completely fake, mildly embarrassing, and as if it were an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching is the truthful thing." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is the top natural actresses in film of all time. Gary Goldstein, in a September 12 Los Angeles Times, review of Towelhead declared that Summer Bishil ("...newcomer) provides a compelling and impressive performance as Jasira. She filmed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over project in 2009 which starred Harrison Ford and Ray Liotta. Jay Reiner of the Associated Press liked her portrayal. She was selected to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was supposed to be the main subject of the planned but never produced sequel.
