Mena Alexandra Suvari Bio

Mena was ranked #69 on Maxim's "Hot 100 of 2005" as well as #73 on Maxim's "Hot 100 of 2007, and 52 on Maxim's "Hot 100 of 2008". Mena has completed her artistic pursuits by playing the iconic character of Black Dahlia in Ryan Murphy's tv show American Horror Story (2011) and continued her work in the medium by following up with an arc in the cult series Chicago Fire (2013), in addition to directing the Amazon pilot Hysteria (2014) and the mini-series on WeTv South of Hell (2015) which was executive produced by Eli Roth and Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions. Mena will play opposite Alicia Silverstone on John Wells and TV Land's American Woman. The actress graduated from Providence High School in Burbank, California class of 1997. Her last name, "Suvari", pronounced "soo-VAHR-ee", is Estonian. Her father was Estonian and her mother is an American. Mena's maternal grandfather has Norwegian, German, and English ancestry, while Mena's maternal grandmother was the daughter of Greek immigrants. Her first name is Mena. Pronounced "MEE-nah". Named the most "patriotic" artist of 2000 by Entertainment Weekly magazine, making allusion to her 3 consecutive films that have the word "American" in the names: American Pie (1999), American Beauty (1999) and Live Virgin (1999). In 2001, she added American Pie 2 (2001) to that list. And then, more than a decade later, she added yet another "American" film to her collection, with American Reunion (2012).
