Kristin Landen Davis Bio

Davis was born in Boulder Colorado. As an only child, her parents divorced when she became an infant. Her stepfather adopted her professor Keith Davis, after he married her mother Dorothy, a university data analyst, in the year 1968. Three half-sisters were born in her father's first wife. Early in her childhood she and her parents moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where her father was provost and teaches psychology at the University of South Carolina. Davis was the lead in the local theater production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the age of 10. Davis was born in South Carolina and graduated from A.C. Flora High School, in 1983. Then, she moved to New Jersey, where she was a student at Rutgers University. In 1987, Davis received a bachelor's from Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts. After graduating in 1987, Davis moved to New York and worked as a waitress before starting a yoga studio with a friend. The studio was offered the character of Brooke Armstrong Campbell in Melrose Place in 1995. After a year, the producers found that viewers did not like her character and she quit the show. Davis also has appeared in the roles of other shows on television like Friends, Will and Grace and Seinfeld. In 1998, Davis was cast as Charlotte York in Sex and the City and remained an integral part of the cast until the series ended in 2004. In the last season, she was nominated for an Emmy.
